We’re Steph & Ruth, the two British born Nigerian besties behind Meji Foods. Together, we’re more than business partners – we’re decade old friends with shared moments lasting a lifetime. The same but different (or two sides of the same coin as Steph would say), our contrasts bring together pure magic, and our individuality has become the secret ingredient in everything that we do.
Founded in 2021, Meji (translated to ‘two’ in Yoruba) was born out of the shared struggle of balancing busy lifestyles with the cravings for our traditional West African dishes. As corporate girls, time was a precious commodity and spending hours cooking our traditional dishes was a luxury we couldn’t always afford.
We set out to create a solution that would bring the taste of home to our tables without breaking the bank or requiring hours in the kitchen, and thus, Meji Foods was born. Our story began as ‘Ore Meji’ – translated to ‘two friends’ (shout out to Ruth’s mum for this), and just like our friendship, every grain of rice we serve is infused with warmth, richness, and authenticity.
Our mission is simple: to bring the joy of West African food to busy households everywhere, making it convenient, affordable, and accessible to all.
Jollof rice is our debut dish, but trust us, there’s a delectable symphony of flavors waiting in the pipeline.
